Brad Croft San Antonio - Blogger

Explosive Ordnance Disposal Craftsman / Undergraduate Student

Cody Lee Cochran

Bradley Croft San Antonio is an excellent trainer and humanitarian. He adopted my foster dog, Koda who was surrendered to San Antonio Pets Alive by his former owner due to Koda's high-energy and destructive behavior. I was impressed by Bradley Croft San Antonio love and understanding of canines, his technical training expertise, and his unwavering professionalism.

I recommend Bradley Croft San Antonio and UniversalK9, to any police department seeking canine handler training, any individuals looking for obedience/protection training for their own canine, or any canine foster with a high-energy dog that is difficult to re-home

Thanks

K-9 Handler at Velda City Police Department

My department received a grant for a single purpose drug detection K-9. I had the pleasure of meeting Brad Croft San Antonio and his team on 10-14-13 for 2 weeks of handler training. The Universal K9 staff was professional and extremely knowledgeable and awesome to work with. From the time of my arrival and receiving my new partner "Zoey" it was evident that Brad Croft San Antonio and his staff spared no expense at trainer her for the detection of drugs. On top of that, everyone was very patient and answered all the questions I had during training to help me work with my new partner. I would highly recommend Universal K9 for any other department's that are looking for K-9's and anyone else needing the other services they offer (personal protection dogs, police/military dogs, obedience training and contract searches).
I look forward to being able to work with Brad Croft San Antonio and his staff again on future endeavors!
Thanks again!

What Skills Does a Kennel Master Course Teach?

“Taking care of a K9 unit takes a lot more skill and effort than taking care of your average pet. That's why we offer specialized courses for those professionals who are charged with looking after canines.” - Brad Croft

Being a kennel master isn't easy. Kennel masters need to know a lot more than just how to handle a service dog. Dog handlers themselves need to know a lot of information. Kennel masters need to know even more. If you are a kennel master, you will need to know how to oversee an entire work dog program.

From feeding and proper handling, to learning how to design and manage a kennel, a kennel master course can impart a wide range of skills. Kennel masters must shoulder a lot of responsibility as they are essentially program managers. As such, it is especially vital that they be well trained and that they know how to handle essentially any situation.

Dogs are very complex creatures and have a wide variety of needs. In order to ensure that a dog is working at its maximum efficiency, it must be well fed, rested, and trained. By completing a kennel master course, you'll be able to upgrade your own skills so that you'll be able to more effectively care for your canines. This program is essential, and often required, for people who will be put in charge of a K9 program.

Further, while dogs are man's best friend, they aren't quite human. Dogs have different needs than us, but they can't communicate with us, at least not directly through language. A kennel master course will teach you how to understand the needs of your dogs and how to read any signals they may be trying to send you. Learning to understand your canines could prove essential to safeguarding their well-being.

So, if you are going to be put in charge of a K9 program, you should closely consider a kennel master course. These courses are quite long as they are very intensive. A program usually takes 10 weeks to complete. While the program is indeed very long and intensive, we work hard to ensure that we are using your time efficiently. We know that you're a busy professional, so we make sure that our course is designed with effectiveness in mind.

All You Need to Know About a K9 Trainers Course in San Antonio, TX, USA

If you want to take a K9 trainers course, Universal K9 should be your top choice. One of our lead experts, Brad Croft, puts it this way “When it comes to K9 units, training is everything and that's truth for both dog and handler.” By taking one of our trainer courses, you can learn the essentials for training canines for security purposes.

Training canines isn't easy. Demand for patrol dogs, however, has been growing rapidly as airports, corporate security teams, the military, and police forces have all been adding K9 units. Our K9 trainers course will teach canine trainers how to work with both handlers and canines themselves. A K9 trainer must be able to train both dogs and handlers in the strategies and skills needed to find drugs, explosives, and other things.

Trainers must also be able to teach dogs to be obedient and how to react in a situation. For example, if a criminal suspect becomes violent, a dog must be taught how to disarm, restrain, and disable a criminal rather than just attacking him blindly. K9 trainers help you learn how to train dogs to do just this.

As you have probably guessed, a K9 trainers course is intensive. In this case, it takes a full ten weeks to complete the course. That's nearly as long as a college course, and you'll be studying just about every day. The K9 trainers course requires such depth and length because training dogs is complex.

We offer many other canine training courses worthy of your consideration. For example, if you are looking to upgrade your skills in detection, you can attend the short two-week detection only course. This course is short and sweet, but imparts a large number of skills in a short period. We know that dog handlers are busy people, so we ensure our courses are able to impart as much knowledge as quickly as possible.

If you want to add even more skills, you can take the dual-purpose patrol and protection class course, which also lasts only two weeks. Besides learning how to handle a dog during a detection sweep, you'll also learn how to handle your canine while out on patrol. Dogs are becoming very popular patrol partners for security guards and others because their ability to smell and see at night helps ensure no intruders are able to slip past your security sweeps.
